The tanto is a classic knife with a slightly curved blade, sharp on one side and no longer than 30 cm. It was more common among the higher casts, with women wearing a shorter one (`kaiken`) hidden in their `obi`. The techu (or tekku) is simply a stick larger than the fist, that allows for a great variety of techniques such as unlocking a joint-lock or helping projections. It is a versatile weapon that can take the form of everyday objects, such as a pen. |
